First run in 1992 and sponsored by the Lakeview Fitness and Sports Center, the Links to Lake 5K holds the distinction of being the only point-to-point race on the Grand Prix circuit. The USA Track & Field certified course starts in Lakeview's upper parking are, follows the access road to Rt. 857, travels the length of Lakeview Manor Drive and back, turns right to run parallel to Cheat Lake for the final full mile before hitting a short up-hill stretch to the finish line at the end of Mont Chateau Road. Vans transport participants from the finish line back to Lakeview for post-race refreshments and awards presentation. This course is scenic and very fast: a 200 foot drop in elevation from the golf course to the lake attracts many runners with expectations of setting PRs. Other features include T-shirts, random prizes and customized awards. Proceeds benefit in Touch and Concerned, an organization that helps local senior citizens and disabled to maintain their independence.
